• CMHC to Introduce Variable Rate Mortgage-Backed Securities
  OTTAWA, Ontario, September 2, 2003 — "Variable Rate Mortgage-Backed Securities (VRMBS), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's (CMHC) newest housing finance initiative to improve the supply of low-cost mortgage funds in Canada, will be introduced in September", says Karen Kinsley, President, Canada Mortgage and Housing.
  
• Bank of Canada lowers target for the overnight rate by 1/4 percentage point to 2 3/4 per cent
  OTTAWA, Ontario, 3 September 2003 — The Bank of Canada today announced that it is lowering its target for the overnight rate by one-quarter of one percentage point to 2 3/4 per cent. The operating band for the overnight rate is correspondingly lowered, and the Bank Rate is now 3 per cent.
