This announcement was made today by the Honourable Lucienne Robillard, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Joe Fontana, Minister of Labour and Housing, and Julie Boulet, MNA for Laviolette and Minister for Transport, on behalf of Jean-Marc Fournier, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Sports and Recreation. Gaston Hamel, Chairman of the La Tuque Municipal Housing Bureau, and Réjean Gaudreault, Mayor of La Tuque, also attended this event. It should be recalled that these expenses are being assumed in a proportion of 50% by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and 50% by the Société d'habitation du Québec (SHQ) and the municipality of La Tuque. "The Government of Canada is pleased to work with the provincial government, the municipality and community representatives to meet the housing needs of the citizens of La Tuque," said Minister Robillard. "These renovations enhance quality of life, stimulate commercial investment and contribute to the sustainable development of communities." "I am delighted with the tangible benefits that this investment will bring to the families of the HLM Quartier Bel-Air, by providing them with comfortable, good quality housing.
