Mortgage advice for immigrants

Mortgages for immigrants to Canada

Finding the right Canadian mortgage can be frustrating and difficult for most, but if you have recently moved to the country or you are planning to, getting that mortgage might be even more challenging. Canadian lenders have a set of criteria that must be met before they will lend money to non residents.

Lenders generally look at the amount of your down payment and your employment status here in Canada. Those who are able to offer larger deposits (generally 35% or more) will stand a greater chance of getting a mortgage than those who are unable to afford more than 10%. However, this is not always the case, so let our professional mortgage brokers work for you. Also, lenders will be concerned with the employment status of the non resident who is applying for a mortgage. The lender will want to know the following:

  • Were you transferred by your current company?
  • How long have you been employed with your current company?
  • Did you move to start a new job? If so, is it the same line of work?
  • In which country did you previously work?
  • What is your other previous work experience?

Moving to a new country has enough stress, so let our trained and experienced mortgage brokers help you remove some of the burden of finding the right mortgage. After discussing your options, our professional mortgage brokers will be able to tell you if getting a Canadian mortgage is possible. We have access to a large network of lenders and will do our best to find the lending option that will get you into your new home here in Canada. (See: Canadian Mortgage Application)
